Citizens and the legitimacy outcomes of collaborative governance An administrative burden perspective

Is collaborative governance ‘democracy-enhancing’ and does it generate legitimacy? Drawing from the literatures on administrative burden policy feedback a positive approach to legitimacy, this theoretical article studies how institutional design of impacts legitimacy citizens grant state bureaucracy. It argues that three legitimacy-enhancing effects based targeting, deliberation exposure are likely, providing specific set features is present. This invites scholars practitioners reflect not only direct consequences but also its broader democratic outcomes.
